StudentMy 21 yo son has a lipoma in his arm between his wrist and elbow. The doctor said just to leave it as it isn’t causing any harm and surgically removing it is not recommended. It really bothers him. Any suggestions on something that might help shrink it or help it dissipate?

Dr. Patrick Jones
Homestead InstructorI’ve read that turmeric and sage can help to reduce the size of lipomas if applied as a paste (or tincture) topically. Turmeric is a wonderful yellow stain so be careful with getting it on stuff.
I will do some research and see it there’s any actual scientific validity to those claims and get back to you. :0)
It’s something I’ve been meaning to figure out for awhile.Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

Studentso would one just grind up some sage and mix with turmeric powder and some water or oil and put it on the skin above the lipoma?

Homestead InstructorYou could do that, or make a tincture or lotion and apply it topically. A tincture is my preferred way to apply stuff topically but the other ways work too.
There are lessons on how to make all of those sorts of things in the Herbal Medicine Making section. :0)

StudentWondering if this was tried and the outcome. Dr wants me to have an MRI for what he believes is a lipoma in my calf muscle.

StudentSo after using caster oil with lemon essential oil for a few months, my lipoma was undetectable. Gave a bottle to my mom to see if would help her as well.

StudentWould one treat a lipoma in the same way as cancer? Or does it depend on the location and size?

StudentIf or when you do treat your son’s lipoma, would you mind posting the results? Your experience could add to our education. Anecdotal evidence, though not as strong as a controlled study, is still helpful.
Thank you.
