I have a friend who would like a healing balm for tattoos. My question is would it be ok to use comfrey in this balm because of the tiny puncture wounds from the needles? and also which herbs would you recommend for such a balm.

I would use either gum weed (my personal favorite) or calendula. Go with what is easier to obtain, they are both great for that sort of thing. Maybe add some mallow for extra soothing. As for comfrey, are the needle pricks big enough they could form little pus pockets and abcess? I don’t have any experience with tattoos, so I don’t really know.

Interesting question. I don’t know what the effect of accelerating the healing of a tattoo would be on the appearance of the tattoo. I think Michelle’s ideas are good. But, as I said, I don’t know how it would affect the image.

If it’s just the pain (rather than the healing) I’d probably spray some hops tincture on it.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

on the hops tincture for pain, can this also be added in a balm to reduce pain?
