I recently learned that the Curcumin extracted from the Turmeric is a blood thinner.  I feel like this is something I should have known before now.  I work in a nutrition store, and we have a lot of people that come in and we sell them Curcumin.  I have not thought to be careful when they are on pharmaceutical blood thinning meds.  I have always been cautious with cayenne, ginger, and ginseng, but should we also be more cautious with curcumin?  I always tell everyone to check with their Dr if they are on any Phamaceuticals, but I do especially caution with these particular combinations.   I love curcumin for any inflammation, joint health, and pain.  Does anyone have thoughts on this subject?

Curcumin is indeed a blood thinner. I’d be careful combining it with drugs that are blood thinners….too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
