I understand that Plantain does not retain its medicinal properties if heated. Are there any other herbs that lose their medicinal properties if heated? My interest is when infusing with an oil to make a medicinal balm.

Most of the mint family suffers when heated. Uva ursi and nettles get pretty beaten up as well.
Have a look at lotion lesson in the Medcine Making section. When I make a lotion, I always add some fresh tea and/or tincture to the final mix to boost the power of any of the kids that may have suffered during the oil infusion step. There are directions on how to do that in that lesson. :0)

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
