StudentHello, I am probably the bug myself. Computer skills are very basic. I have attempted to post a question with a photo on the plant identification thread. Perhaps a how to on uploading a photo might be helpful. I even added the photo to an old blog that I hosted in order to have a URL as it doesn’t seem to have another path for uploading. The next issue is that every time I have attempted the post it responds that I move too fast. Possibly the slider bar is supposed to be moved yet it is not showing up on my screen. Obviously I need a bit of help. Thanks!

Homestead InstructorHi there!
Unfortunately we don’t have the ability to allow uploading of images as that would be very resource heavy for our system to store and host user generated content like that.
It would be possible if I was willing to let amazon or google into my environment, and maybe someday we’ll need to resort to that. But for now I much prefer to keep the tech giants out of our user’s data.
For posting images, there are a ton of outsourced options:
Personally I have used the following
- Snipboard.io – Fantastic site, completely free, no account required and you can paste right from your clipboard. 10/10 I use it every day. Images are only stored for 30 days I think so maybe avoid this one if you want your stuff to stick around.
- Imgur.com – Account is required and your posts will be visible to other users on the site, but simple user interface, easy and free and the images stay forever I believe.
- Other image sharing tools like Google Photos, Flickr, Amazon photos – The global Gold Standards if you’re into that sort of thing
- Personal Storage Hosting – OneDrive, Google Drive, DropBox ect all very popular and simple to use.
Concerning the “move too fast” bug, That is an issue and I’ve had other reports on it. A fix is in the works and should be completely resolved within the next 48 hours. After the fix is implemented you should not see that error message unless you’re posting or replying more more than once every 60 seconds (to stop any spam bots from DDOSing us)

Homestead InstructorHi Cheryl,
As Evan said, we don’t have the bandwidth to host a lot of images. That said, if you can put the image elsewhere on the web, you can click on the INSERT button which will drop down several options one of which is an image. Then you just paste the URL address of the image into the little box and the image will be in your post.
If you aren’t seeing the INSERT button, when you’re posting, click on the orange button that says VISUAL and it will give you all those fun options for your posts.
