I’ve never done this before, so hopefully I will get it right. This week I have been canning up a storm. This means I have been doing repetitive motions with my hands for many hours straight. Long days of coring, chopping, etc. Now my wrists are slightly swollen and very painful. When I had an issue like this 20 years ago, they said it was tenosynovitis and gave me a cortisone shot that fixed it (along with rest). I admit I am a little chicken to go that direction again (it hurts like crazy when they give you the shot). I was wondering if anyone has had success using herbs for something like this or if I should just stop being chicken and go right in. I’ve got braces which provide support as well. I’ve been taking Ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory) but I’m afraid of having to take that for too long. Thanks in advance.

Hi I’ve had wrist problems in the past from County as well. That is no fun. Some thing that really helps my hands and wrists is Dr. Christophers bone and tissue appointment. I feel like the comfrey and that is a huge kicker. I’ve made my own comfrey ointment but I like his better. One thing to think about with wrists is that typically wrists aren’t weak forearms are. If your wrists are having issues you might look at forearm strengthening exercises. I am a yoga instructor so wrist health is on my mind a lot.

But I agree with you giving them rest and anti-inflammatory herbs sound like a great start.

Sorry you’re hurting. Have a look at the pain management lessons in the Disease & Herbal Interactions section.
For pain, I usually approach from three directions; anti-inflammatories, nervines and muscle relaxants. You probably dont’ need muscle relaxants on a wrist case but some anti-inflammatories and nervines would feel good.
SPray some hops or skullcap tincture on it topically…or some aArnica topically.
Internally have a look at the herbs in the Joint Support formula. Turmeric, Boswellia, yucca would all be good as would others. Have a look at those pain lessons for more details. :0)

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
