Dried marshmallow root is a favorite fall and winter tea herb for me as I feel it really helps coughs and sore throats. When I got a bulk order recently, I noticed it has a very strong, kind of sweet smell…I don’t remember ever noticing that in times past with smaller amounts I’ve purchased. Does dried marshmallow typically smell strong? I’m wondering if maybe it’s is an old batch or if it has gotten mold….but I don’t want to toss it if this is typical! Thank you in advance for your thoughts on this!
Got a pound of marshmallow root in a mylar bag from Mountain Maus, and yep, it has a kind of sweetish, slightly “fermented” kind of smell, not moldy or musty. It’s plenty dry, not nasty, and I’m using it.
Want some funny smelling roots, I can send a little of my home grown valerian, 😀
