StudentWill there be a future monograph on Gravel Root? Just finished Liver/Gallbladder and it seems a critical antilithic… is it eupatorium purpureum like google suggests? If so, hurrah, I know it as Joe Pye weed. Assuming from the name that the root is gathered, would that be before flowering? Thanks, Doc!

Homestead InstructorGravel root is indeed Joe Pye Weed (Eupatorium purpureum). Harvest roots in the fall or in the spring before it gets too busy. That’s when they’ll be strongest.
I have a bazillion little single plant presentations in various stages of gussying up that will be added to the site soon. I’ll put the gravel root one up today if I can get over to the office.

StudentTopic AuthorTake your time walking to the office, I found the single slide presentation in the pancreas module. I appreciate the harvesting tips, though. Cheers!

StudentThis is a long ago post, but I’m curious if there are other alternatives to Gravel Root in the formula. I can’t seem to find enough information on it in order to know exactly what its purpose is and if it can be replaced. I just don’t have any on hand and want to know if this specific plant is essential to the formula. Thanks!

StudentI am also curious about this. The store where I get all my herbs said they can’t even buy it anymore because it was deemed unsafe for consumption. (Not sure if that was coming from her supplier or what). New to the program and am currently finished the cleanse section where this became an issue for me. I hope someone has an answer to your question.😊
