StudentMy husband has hardening of the pleural plaque – lower left lung and it’s white on an x-ray.  The “specialist” (ahem…) states that there is absolutely nothing that can be done to improve this, but I’m stubborn and totally believe that this can be helped (if not cured).  At this point, hubby believes the doctor.  Is there anything that will really help him?  He got this from working where there was a lot of dust from industrial insulation products back in the 70’s.  {Hopeful}, Sharon

Homestead InstructorI’ve never addressed pleural plaque hardening. But marshmallow is wonderfully good and smoothing, moistening, soothing, rough irritated stuff. It tastes good too. Put some in his morning smoothie. Worse case scenario, it’ll make lots of other stuff work & feel better.
Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

StudentTopic AuthorSorry I missed your answer Doc. Â Thank you. Â So just either drink a tea or use the herbs in a smoothie – got any great ideas for getting herbs down him enough without a smoothie? Â He’s just never been a smoothie guy. Â Appreciate you answering all the questions that we all ask in this group – it really shows your heart!

Homestead InstructorThrow it in a jar of water with some peppermint and a little licorice and let it sit in the fridge overnight.  Quite tasty.
Have a look at the Undercover Herbalism video in the Supplemental Videos section. There are some ways to get herbs into husbands there too. LOL

StudentTopic AuthorAWESOME!  Husband says “gee, thanks Doc – now I have to wonder about what I’m consuming all the time”!  But on a serious note, he uses a corticosteroid inhaler, so the licorice is contraindicated, yes?  But the cold brew tea with peppermint does sound good, if licorice is ok, let me know?  We’ll go with any other good herbs that might help his lungs too!  You’re a true jewel 🙂

StudentTopic AuthorOh sorry, missed your question.  His inhaler is Advair 500/50.  He’s actually forgetting to use it at night often, so I don’t know if it’s because he actually needs it less or it’s his pretty sketchy memory doing it’s thing!  Sure would like to get his lungs back somewhat close to normal!  🙂
