Doc, I’ve heard  you say to not eat chocolate when you’re sick. Is there more to it than just the fact that it increases cytokines?  And, I’m talking about actual chocolate (not all the sugar and other things put into it.)

The real chocolate can increase cytokines. The tasty candy, is full of sugar which increases inflammation, feeds Candida and suppresses the immune system. Sugar isn’t your friend especially when you’re sick.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

Right. But the actual chocolate is of no concern (other than increasing cytokines?)

Real chocolate (cacao) has some medicinal properties. Eating it isn’t contraindicated unless you’re symptoms are being caused by high cytokines. Echinacea increases cytokines too. That’s part of how it does its job waking up and stimulating the immune system. Cytokine stimulation is sometimes a good thing and sometimes a bad thing.
