StudentHey Doc or anyone else, my friend Jodie would like you to write a book on Vet care for animals for homesteaders. She has goats, chickens, sheep etc… and we both know many many people who have animals but eventually can’t keep them because a few vet bills wipe them out…
I actually got raw milk from a guy here in Michigan who raised Jersey cows… but he had to give up because all the vet bills wiped out any profit that he would make for years…
Doc, can you write a books because you have sooo much experience as a vet… I’d buy it too!

Homestead InstructorI’m trying to decide what to do with veterinary content. I don’t know whether to write a book or just do some really specific lessons here etc… It’s on my short list of things to do in the next few months.
Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

StudentHi Doc Jones,
I would love to see an in depth lesson on holistic goat care! I am getting my first goats in about a month and one is pregnant the other is in milk. I’m excited, but a little terrified. LOL Please do a lesson for us on goats! 🙂
Thanks!

StudentA book and lessons would be fantastic! But just a book would be great when the wild Kansas weather kills my sat signal.

Yes I have so many friends who are first time homesteaders needing accurate information rather than searching the web when they need immediate help!😀

StudentThat’s a great idea! My parents raised goats for years and then when I took over they started dropping like flies. A few vet bills and I desperately want to learn herb vet skills.

StudentI would buy it too. I hate taking my pets to the vet. I get bombarded with “do you need this shot, that shot, this medication, etc.

I vote for both. So a good strategy would be to write lessons with a view to using them in or as a future book. Two birds, one stone sort of thing.
Now all you need is the time to do it.

StudentI’m sure you’re swamped with requests for books and such. But I would definitely want to buy a book you wrote on homestead animals. I recently bought your book Homegrown Herbalist and it was so easy and down right fun to read. My poor sweet sister, endured patiently while I enthused over the pages. “Oh wait listen to this . . . or “This herb is cool . . .
I enjoy writing novels and thoroughly enjoyed your skill in creative writing.

StudentHi Doc,
From the amount of requests you get for books, videos, and the like I think you need be more than one person! There are only 24 hours in a day! Thank you for all you do and know, we’d all love to see book after book written by you because God truly gifted you as a communicator but we don’t want you to burn out. All your work (and your families I presume) is a blessing, thank you.

StudentI would definitely love either of those! Especially if they covered some of the small vet bills that add up like supporting animal immune systems during pregnancy and postpartum, deworming, what shots you recommend, how to treat everyday things like ear infections… etc. I am so happy to be here!

StudentHey there Doc,
I would like to see some lessons on domestic animals (ie, dogs and cats) for general health and well being. And for those typical treatments of ear issues and yeast. Or basic wound care such as sores on pads from a foxtail or bur, or a puncher wound from a stick or nail (not like I haven’t had to deal with this a time or two or more) for emergency care for trauma till one can get them to the emergency vet.
I wouldn’t mind a lesson on general care and treatments for farms animals as well.
Doc, thank you for all that you have done and for using you your gifts and talents to help others both human and furry. -

StudentI just signed up for the program. I am interested in learning about treating my Jersey & Dexters cows using herbs. I have been successful with some herbal tinctures. Any lessons on herbal cow care would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

StudentWe have been homesteading several years now. While goats will not be a thing for us, cattle, chickens, turkeys, pigs, sheep, dogs and cats will be. It’s always great to hear how to take care of them naturally. I’ve used onion juice several times on dogs and people. It works great, and has no bad side effects other than temporary stinkage. I’d love a book, but am ok with binding PDFs for the library.
