        Would this be helpful?

If so internally, as an eye wash, both or neither?

If not, what would be good?

Thank you for the help, Linea

I don’t know of anything herbal that will reverse cataracts in older dogs.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

hi Doc, i took a webinar for antiaging in humans and the holistic teacher said it is curable by a holistic eye dr by avoiding foods/medications that promote this condition and increasing carotenoids, bioflavonoids rich foods plus vitamins c, e, & Bs, alpha lipic acid, & N-acetylcysteine. I’m wondering if these supplements are ok in dogs?

All of those nutritives would be safe in a dog.

Bilberry extract has been used to reduce the risk of cataracts, but I haven’t found any evidence of it reversing them. Cataracts are a result of the proteins of the lens changing or breaking down. (Human dose is 80 mg, 2-3 times a day).

I have had some success with Doc Jones’ Visionary tincture.  It has Bilberry in it.  He is an 8 yr old pug mix and his eyes are no worse, and he doesn’t rub them nearly as much.

I just purchased the Visionary tincture for myself but I may use it preventatively for my dog as well.

Bilberry and the other plants in the Eye Support/Visionary formula can support the eye and slow things down but it’s really hard to reverse them in old dogs.
