Does anyone know how to treat sugar dumping syndrome? My mother, 76 years old, has it and the doctors really don’t have any answers to help with this. She has passed out from it before and I would like to be able to help her to keep her blood sugar level… but they say it is not diabetes, so I really don’t understand how to help. Has anyone dealt with this issue and any herb recommendations and how often, etc. I know it might be a long shot, but I am new to herbalism and thought maybe someone here would have some answers. Thanks for any help!!!

You’ll need to do some research, and also run it by the doctors, but mulberry leaf is purported to help stabilize blood sugar, especially in people with insulin resistance (not that your mother fits into that category).  But mulberry leaf could be worth looking into.  Like I said, do some research, and run it through the doctors.  Mulberry leaf is also a cardiovascular tonic as well.

My husband is diabetic, but was recently put on a muscle relaxer and anti inflammatory. The entire time he’s was on those things it was a struggle to keep his sugar UP! Absolutely crazy. He looked it up and the anti-inflammatories were causing the sugar crashes.

There are some herbs that can decrease insulin production or release (see the Pancreas lesson) but for that issue I’d probably just do gut stuff. Have a look at the Digestive system lessons and the Digestive Formulas lesson in the Formulas and Formulations section.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
