Hi all.  Doc inspired me for hubby’s lung issues to make what I (in Doc’s honor) call Goober Tea!  Hat tip to you Doc 🙂

        Recipe:

5 grams of hollyhock (we don’t have marshmallow) that I split up about evenly between the pretty flower petals (makes the tea beautiful) and the leaves.

        4 grams of mullein leaf

        1.5 grams of peppermint leaves

I put it all in a quart jar and steep it about 8 hours (not in the sun).  Then strain and add about 1.5 T of maple syrup.  Then dose at about 3-4 ounces twice a day for him.  Haven’t had any tests run or anything, but he sure has less troubles with the lung goobers than he used to.  PLEASE, if anyone has a way to make this better, I’m all ears – cuz I’m still a rookie!

That’ll cure what ails him. :0)

Just a quick question on this formula.  So if I understand correctly, you use the fresh Hollyhock flower/leaf, as well as fresh mullein and mint to infuse, right?  However, just curious if one can combine the fresh Hollyhock, with a powdered mullein and/or mint? Thank you for clarifying this for me.

Actually Wanda, all the ingredients are dried (not powdered, just dried).  I’m sure you can do it with powdered, but I believe (and someone correct me if I’m wrong please), that if you measure weight, it shouldn’t matter if it’s powdered or cut/sifted.  Hope I’m right.  I have gone to 2 grams of peppermint now though for an enhanced taste!  Enjoy it!

Teas can be made from fresh or dry herbs (powdered or not powdered) in any combination.

The only thing to be aware of is that fresh herbs will require more plant material to get the same dose because of their water content…fresh herbs are less concentrated medicine than dry herbs so use more. I usually just double the dry herb dose if I’m using fresh stuff.
