I want to try to calm my buns a bit before dispatching now that they have figured out what I’m up to. I want to try giving them a few nibbles of chamomile. The question is how long do you think it will take to get into their system and start working? Oh and for how long do you think it will keep working? Thanks to any good guesses 🙂

Chamomile will take 15 minutes or so if eaten. Though it’s calming, I don’t know that it’d be calming enough keep them calm once something alarming is happening. Though if you dose it high enough it may still help.

Valerian or skullcap may be better choices though neither of those will likely knock them out either unless you gave them enough to be dangerous. That said, if they’re going into a crock pot shortly after getting their herbs, risk of overdosage is rather less of a concern.

I haven’t used any of those three herbs in a rabbit. So can’t say with certainty what the results will be. Let us know.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

Ha I guessed 15 minutes 🙂 Thanks so much for the extra herbs to try as well. Ya I figure it can’t hurt since they will be dispatched in minutes anyway. It’ll be interesting either way. I will follow up after.
