My children and I were reading a book. The book was a book about an Inuit boy and was supposed to be historically accurate. Anyway, in the book, the family would make tea and then eat the leaves. So my questions are 1. Why don’t we do this now? 2. Can we do this now and how would you go about picking herbs that can be steeped and then eaten?

I hope that makes sense. Thanks!

The only reason we strain teas and tinctures is for ease of use and palatability. There’s no reason not to consume ALL of the herb with the tea if you wish. Most of the goodies will be in the water after steeping. But if you want the whole pharmacy of that plant you can sure use all of it. :0)

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
