Hi everyone, I just purchased a calendula tincture from the Doc, because i wanted to make a diaper cream for my new grand baby. But every recipe i look at calls for an infused oil. did i screw up? can i use a tincture to make diaper cream? now that i think about it, alcohol (in the tincture) doesn’t sound like a good ingredient for a diaper cream ;(

You are correct alcohol for a small child’s skin is not a good idea. The cream with bees wax and olive oil is great infused with calendula, chick weed, and comfrey. It is my 3-C cream I learned to make years ago before coming to the school of Botanical Medicine. It works great in one ‘sitting’. 🙂

          All the best!

Cover the calendula with olive oil in a double boiler and simmer on low heat for about an hour.

Then melt in 1 oz beeswax per cup of oil

Then add 1/2 cup of tea (or 1/4 cup of tincture i+ 1/4 cup of water) of calendula for each cup of the oil/wax mixture.

Mix immediately with a submersible blender. Voila! Lotion!

For an even better baby lotion, add some comfrey and marshmallow.
