HEY there.. I am growing catnip and it has not flowered yet but my husband decided to try a leaf of it and felt almost high.. described it as relaxed but his head was heayv but not quite a headache.

It was only one fresh leaf and so my question is … is it that strong? and are you not supposed to take it that way. I know most people make a tea out of it and use it that way.

and if its in a tincture form wouldn’t that make it even stonger or concentrated?

I had heard it was good for babies and upset stomach but my husbands reaction makes me question it a bit and i find a bunch of conflicting info on google.

First of all, make sure it’s catnip. A reaction that strong from a single catnip leaf (or any other single mint family leaf) is very unusual.

When I use catnip in babies, I use the tea rather than the tincture and I make it using the dry herb (just because that’s what I always have handy.

A lot of ladies have told me that taking catnip as a nursing mom helps colicky babies as well. So that’s another delivery system for the little guys.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

So with the tummy tamer recipe, that is best given to mom during breastfeeding for colic babies? How would one give a tea to a baby? Mine is 18 so I forgot everything lol.

Also, what is the best way to test on babies for allergies? drip some on skin? I am also assuming alcohol tinctures are not okay but to use glycerine for babes? trying to set up my neighbor for success. We are very remote too so want to help when needed and be ready.
