So I might have messed up but I am not sure. I was in another herbal class so I made a tincture differently than Doc says to.

I took a pint jar and stuffed it with 75% fresh elderflowers, 20% echinacea leaves and 5% apple and chocolate mint (based on me eyeballing it). Because it was all fresh, I used 95% grain alcohol. I ended up adding a couple of table spoons of elderflower glycerite because there was some extra room at the top and because I recently bought some tinctures that had some herbal glycerite to top off the mixture so it seemed like a good idea. I assume it is for palatability.

My goal was to make a immune tincture. Fast forward to 2-3 weeks later. The tincture smells amazing as I strained it and is vibrant green. BUT now I have watched Doc’s video and wondered if I messed it up by not using vodka. It is obviously shelfstable but will it have extracted everything I was hoping to or was the alcohol too high?

        Thanks!

If you were using fresh plants there will be enough water content to make the everclear be fine. I’d use Echinacea flower or root rather than the leaf. The leaf weaker than the other bits.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
