Mulberries are my personal favorite berry and happily I have a small mulberry tree.  I was reading that Mulberry leaf can help diabetics? My hubs is a type 2 and he has lots of issues keeping it level under 200. If this is true, I am thinking of making him a tincture to try and help him. Can you do a lesson on diabetes/Mullberry?

Mulberries are wonderful! We have a mulberry quick view lesson that will be added to the individual plants section soon. 🙂

Mulberry leaf has been traditionally used for its potential benefits in managing blood sugar levels in diabetics. It is believed to inhibit the enzyme sucrase, which digests sugar in the gut, leading to a reduction in glucose absorption and decreased blood glucose levels. Additionally, mulberry leaf has been found to have a protective effect on the blood vessels of diabetics, lower blood pressure, and reduce serum cholesterol levels.

Doc Jones has a formula called Pancreas Blood Sugar that can be used to support normal blood sugar levels in individuals that are not insulin dependent. Some of the herbs in that formula may be worth looking at in the event of a world with no insulin.

You can learn more about this topic in the Pancreas anatomy, function, dysfunction, and herbal interactions. The formula mentioned above is on slide #32 of that lesson.

I created a formula that is one part mulberry leaf.  I gave it to a friend of mine, who is a candy addict (I don’t know if she suffers from insulin resistance, but it is very likely).  She said after using this formula, her candy cravings disappeared!

Tanzi Lynn, here is the formula:

Equal parts mulberry leaf, nettle leaf, dandelion root, garlic.

I have made tea from mulberry leaf many times.  it’s mild and not to exciting to drink, lol.   I like to put it with peppermint or temperate tulsi to give it  bit more flavor (and a splash of cream never hurts either:)    I have never measured my blood sugar on a regular basis,  but i’d be curious how a cup of tea a day (id he’ll drink it)  would effect his numbers.
