Hello everyone!  This is my first post on here and I am very excited to be part of this community.  I am just starting out, kind of in jerks and starts, but I did manage to plant a few herbal plants/flowers this year.  This is no small feat: Historically I notoriously kill anything green within my reach 🙁

My question is this:  my 9 yo daughter has had a strange virus (?) or something over the last few days with sores on the roof of her mouth and a cough with a lot of mucus.  Initially I thought it was just hand and foot, because we tend to indulge in that frequently.  Now that I’m embarking on this journey I’m wondering if there is anything I could use from my garden and wanted to run this by someone:

Lemon balm: for herpes simplex (H,F &M)

        echinacea:  for cough and mucus

Also, as I am so brand-spanking new, I don’t have the dried form on hand and am wondering if I can boil up some fresh echinacea flowers as a tea?

I appreciate any words of advice.   Thanks!

Fresh herbs are great. Just use twice as much to account for the water content.

Both lemon balm and Echinacea are good choices to fight a herpes virus. :0)

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
