Are muscadine leaves the same as grape leaves? We grow lots of muscadines and are curious if we can use the leaves medicinally in the same way as grape leaves?

Thank you for asking this question! I’ve been wondering the same thing. Muscadines are so easy to grow here in the south so we have them but don’t have regular grapes.

            Hi Allyson,

Muscadine / Vitis rotundifolia – is that what you’re asking about?

If so, then yes. In Doc’s lesson on Grape Leaves and discussion in different modules the grape leaves are Vitis spp (spp. means all in that specific classification.

Here’s the link to the grape leaf plant monograph if you’d like to check it out. 🙂 https://homesteadacademy.com/courses/homegrown-herbalist/sections/individual-plants-monographs-videos/lessons/grape-leaf-vitis-spp/ .

              Yup. muscadine is dandy.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
