        Hello Everyone,

Jennifer from Alaska here!  So excited to be here and get an indepth course on herbs.  I took Doc’s courses in School of Traditional Skills and have taken a few other herb courses and am excited to get a more thorough understanding of herbs and their uses so that I will be able to help my family and friends.

Hello Jennifer! I would love to hear about Alaska. With some luck, Thomas, my hubby and I plan to retire there in about 3 years. I’m a new student, sort of, and finding my way around the forums. See you in the threads!

                Warmest regards, Mari

Hello Jennifer! Where are you in AK? Bob went up there in the Army in 1972 and stayed on for a while in Anchorage. Then he came down to Utah for school where we met and got married. Then we moved up there and were in Anchorage for the summer (went dip-netting for salmon on the Copper River and I learned to like salmon) but we ended up in Kotzebue and lived there for 6 years and finally adopted our sons and moved back to the lower 48 to raise them closer to family.

I also am from Alaska, living on a homestead overlooking the Matanuska Glacier. There are numerous wild plants right out my front (and back) door! I’m looking forward to learning about growing herbs in interior Alaska where temps can get mighty cold. I have a greenhouse to extend the growing season but am really hoping to establish a thriving outdoor herbal garden in ZONE 3 as well as how to grow and maintain herbs indoors in winter.
