So, I am planning my new medicinal herb garden. Thankfully, my brother works at Baker Creek seed company so we get a hefty discount there which is very nice. So that was my first go-to place for seeds. However, I was not expecting to find so many of the traditional herbs (mullein, sage, calendula, dandelion, echinacea) bred to be so beautiful! I couldn’t believe my eyes! They have dandelions with white blooms, mullein with lushes pink blooms, calendula with spiky petals, etc. They’re absolutely gorgeous and I would love to have these in my herb garden. But I have one question, are they plants likely still medicinal? Or has the breeding process changed that? I was inclined to think they would still be medicinal as it seems the medicinal properties usually are self-protective for the plants which they would need no matter what their blooms are like. But I wanted to have other people’s input. And I would totally recommend going to Baker Creek’s website and seeing for yourself how beautiful they have made these medicinals! If they truly are still medicinal, I would love to have these!
