I got this in an email from another herb person – has anyone here tried this particular blend (or something really similar)?

“Tincture for Spasms and Wrenched Muscles

I used simple tinctures (herbs tinctured by themselves and not in a blend) and blended roughly equal parts of each of these:

        • Willow bark (Salix alba)
        • Devil’s claw (Harpagophytum officinale)
        • Hops (Humulus lupulus)

This tincture blend worked REALLY fast, providing almost immediate relief. I did have an empty stomach, though, so I think that helped.”

Personally my nemesis is joint pains from inflammation.  It would appear that many carbs create this problem for me, and I don’t have to consume a variety or a large amount to trigger it.  We’ve done without carbs for the better part of 10 months, but that just isn’t sustainable for me, and I think our bodies need some carbs – not an overabundance of them, but some.  It’s been a VERY long 10 months without getting to enjoy my carbs (white potatoes are still on the no thank you list for now).  So finding some great anti-inflammatory blends to combat the middle of the night pains is a quest that I’m on.  Seems some anti-inflammatory blends make it difficult to pass those solid toxins out (sorry).  Any great suggestions that I can try?  I’ve tried joint support, willow bark (more topical than internal), meadowsweet (internally), hops, nomo spazms (topically mostly), and a few others that escape my mind.  Other thank the NoMoSpazms, most have been simples, not formulas.  I’m still kind of timid about mixing my own for some dumb reason!

Hi Sharon –  I have been on the keto/very low carb diet for a year now and I love it!  I tried it twice before my current experience with it and gave up both times because I didn’t think that it was working for me.  I have since learned that it wasn’t ‘working’ because I wasn’t doing it correctly.  By accident, I found a chiropractor on YouTube who taught me the right way to journey down that path.

Funny thing, I found Doc Jones by accident in the same way.  Can not tell you how grateful I am for that!

Back to ‘mashed potatoes.’  We enjoy ‘mashed potatoes’ several times a week on our keto diet.  It looks and – almost – tastes the same as the ones from Idaho, but it is really cauliflower.  I remove the florets off the head, boil them and then toss into the Vitamix/mixer, etc.  Treat your batch just as you would mashed potatoes by adding butter, milk, salt, pepper, etc.

That blend looks like it’d be quite good for pain. No surprise from those characters.

Potatoes, in addition to being simple carbs, are in the nightshade family which can be very inflammatory to some folks. My mom couldn’t eat nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers etc…) without inflammation consequences.

Now, before anyone thinks I’m a tater-hater, understand that I married an Idaho farm girl just so I could get more potatoes in my life. Sadly, she doesn’t make me very many. She’s obsessed with beets and cauliflower and broccoli and such. Tragic really.  :0(

So Doc, you think it would be good with equal parts (simple tinctures blended together?) for the Willow bark,
Devil’s claw, & Hops?  Even though I use a LOT of different tinctures every day, for some dumb reason, I’m still kind of timid about “making” my own blends.  Your course will give me the confidence if life would just quit getting in the way of my education!   Oddly, the other nightshades don’t bother me, but taters or bread…??  Yikes those are just unpleasant.  Do you think that there’s anything I can do to lessen the inflammation on a “full time” basis?  My doctor who is probably more like a naturopath (but sadly he doesn’t know herbs), said that Pregnenolone and Naltrexone will get my body to quit the excessive inflammation.  Do you concur and are there any particular herbs I need to avoid when taking these meds?  First meds I’ve taken in a long time other than the rare ibuprofen when the aches just get to be too much.
