I am not sure if this qualifies as a bug, a typo, veterinary herbalist construction site error or me being a dork. I will let the pros help me out. Digging into the vet course, I noticed formulas for respiratory infections. Both formulas have garlic root and grape leaf in them. Two no no’s for dogs and cats. So assuming it is because this is under construction, Should I disregarding this recipe for just dogs and cats?

slide 47. I am still new so I apologize if I reported this incorrectly. Navigation is a bit complicated when trying to go back and forth, copy paste and re-read what you are suppose to report.

Garlic is actually safe for dogs when done properly. I’m not sure about the other ingredients you mentioned. The formula is most likely correct and safe.

I am still waiting for a legit answer on this question. For us noobs and rule followers out there, when I read that wormwood and garlic are not safe for cats and dogs but some of the dog formulas contain garlic and wormwood, I am at a loss as to add them or not. Who to listen to and if this is an error or okay. Doc, you out there? Do you have qualified folks helping answer any of these questions that have gone unanswered for months?

Garlic and grape leaf at the levels that are in those formulas are safe for dogs. Garlic needs to be fed at pretty high levels and or for a long time to harm dogs. When it a formula with several other herbs, neither of those herbs is a threat. As a veterinarian, when I made my HomeGrown Herbalist formulas for people, I also made them so they’d be safe in animals.

Okay cool! I am wondering if it would help to add that information in the no no’s list? I took it as a literal no no, not a yes but in moderation. Thanks for replying and I will utilize the email in the future.

I’ll do that in the Garlic quickview. Good idea.
