I just had the strangest experience.  Eating something and somehow BIT my tongue but the bite was UNDERNEATH.  Not the top.  (Can’t quite figure that one out!)

Anyhow, it’s a very large laceration.  (I’m even trying to figure out if it needs stitches.)  I’ve used salt water to rinse and now using some ice water/ice.

What would you recommend as a “wash” or tea to sooth and heal something like this?  It’s quite painful as well.

        Thanks for any input.

          Hello Sue,

You can try swishing some some coconut oil in your mouth to soothe your tongue and you could also add a few drops of clove oil to the coconut oil to help numb and control the pain. Honey is also very soothing and has been known for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. I’ve heard that Aloe Vera gel is also a good thing to put on your tongue. It’s good that you are rinsing with salt water to keep away any bacteria or infections 👍

Hope your tongue heals soon !

Oh, what peace we often forfeit, Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer!

Wow that sounds super painful! You might experiment with  comfrey, calendula, and hops too. Hops should help with the pain, calendula would kill infections, and comfrey would help it heal faster.
