Looking for any help to manage the health of my 12 year old Golden Retriever Elsie who was diagnosed with anemia, hepatitis, and kidney failure with electrolyte complications. Ultrasound and biopsy showed no cancer.
My main challenge with her is weight loss even tough she is eating about 1,000 calories a day and has become very picky about what she will eat. She has lost 9 lbs over the past 6 months. She is still active and chases her ball around our 6 acre property 3-4 times a day.
I am preparing raw and lightly cooked meals with good quality proteins low in phosphorus and organic veggies. I feed her 4 times a day and she tends to only want meat. I am currently giving her Doc Jones Liver Support, Alfalfa, 5 Defender mushrooms and just started giving her Chamomile at bedtime and she is now sleeping through the night.  Her bloodwork from 3 weeks ago indicated Stage 2 kidney disease (BUN 26).

I’m trying to learn about malabsorption and what I can do to get some weight back on her.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
