Here’s a little back story….. I have a 3 year old boy whose had re-occurring ear infections over the last 2 years, and we have noticed he spends a lot of time pushing his tongue out of his mouth. I spoke with a holistic, naturopathic Dr about the ear infection, who, based on some past history, recommended trying him on a gluten free diet as well as doubling his probiotic intake. We are now in month 3 of the gluten free diet and so far we have not had any more ear infections.

We currently eat a raw food diet during the day and the children have some cooked whole foods at night. I have seen a tremendous change in his eating since changing his diet as well.

While speaking with his pediatrician one day recently, I mentioned about his tongue and she suggested having an x-ray of his adenoids to see if they were swollen. Upon review of the x-rays it was determined his adenoids were indeed very swollen and taking up a lot of space. The Dr stated the adenoids appear to have hardened and could likely be the culprit to his tongue continuously being pushed out.

While I’m not a fan of having his adenoids removed, my question is this….. If his adenoids are swollen and hardened over, is there a way to soften them back up, reduce the swelling, and get them back working properly?
