Can anyone please give me some suggestions to help my precious friend who is in so much pain? I am sure she is taking meds (I haven’t heard back from her regarding this yet.)  So she could probably only use tinctures externally as a spray. I was thinking about the Muscles-no mo spazms and teasel root tinctures. Please help me to help her if possible. I am still so new at learning all of this information… Thank you for your replies. Below is the email I received from her this evening-

        Dear Suzanne,

Thank you so very much for your prayers! I have 4 new herniated disc’s and my L5 is dead with nerves hanging down. I recently herniated my L4 which caused caudal migration going into cauda equina. I have severe stabbing pains in my back, middle and lower, I have 4 discs in my T spine. Then from L2 down everything is crumbling which is why in the past 2 years since my last CT I have 4 new herniated discs 2 in my T spine, I already had compression fractures in T9/T10 and now 2 new ones at T2/T3. It’s hard to bend to lean over a sink or sit straight. I have nerve pain in both my legs. My right leg is half numb. My saddle area has been going numb at times and I have been having bladder and bowel issues. That’s why I have to have the surgery. They can’t fix my spine due to damage so close to my spinal cord and now I have this disc material pressing on my spinal canal. I have throbbing, stabbing pain with severe muscle spasms and nerve pain in my legs that feel like the worst toothache pain except it is in my legs. My feet hurt and feel like ants are biting them. My spine is also twisting to where the front part is in the back part. I am having steroid injections this week to help with the pain. If you could find some remedies for me that would be awesome.

Suzanne, your thinking is on the money. Nervines and antispasmodics topically can really help if she isn’t able to do internal herbs.

Hops, teasel, NoMospasms, Rest Easy topically could all be good.

Have a look at this one:

          Pain Management III: Specific Interventions

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

Thank you for your input Doc Jones! She had steroid injections this past week and will be having surgery on her back on the 25th. She is on some meds, so can only use topical sprays. Can she use the sprays on the day before surgery and the day after or might it interfer with any anesthesia or pain meds given at the time of procedure? Another question: Can topical applications always be used, even if people are on oral meds, without running the risk of interactions? Thank you again for your reply.
