I live in washington state and last year planted a snowball bush. I noticed leaves eaten and took a couple to a local nursery. They identified the pest as viburnum leaf beetle, which is a newer pest in our area. The only option given to me at the by the nursery is a toxic, bee killing systemic delivered treatment. Is there any safe way to protect the plant from these beetles? Is there any other plant that I could raise and tincture the bark for “cramp bark”

I haven’t tried this yet, but a coworker of mine said this, Captain Jack’s Dead Bug Spray,  is good for killing the bugs that keep eating her flowers

Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll read more about that product. My concern is, I want to use the limbs/bark to make cramp bark tincture. If the insecticide is absorbed into the plant that could make the bark toxic, then I wouldn’t want to use it medicinally.
