StudentI removed a tick from my abdomen 3-5 days ago. Yesterday, I noticed the beginnings of a bullseye rash (from what I read, this may indicate the presence of lymes disease) about an inch around the bite mark. I had artemesia anua tincture on hand so I took that internally and applied it externally several times yesterday. The rash has not progressed, but has not faded. It does seem less inflamed and less “crusty”. This morning I realized I also have “Venom and Sting” powdered herb blend on hand. I’m thinking I’ll make a poultice. My doctor is not in office until Monday (posting this on Saturday morning) I’m not wanting to go to a clinic unless absolutely necessary. What else should I do in the meantime? I do also have 5 leaves of fresh plantain available for poultice. I appreciate any input.

StudentHi Kelly, I’m sorry you are dealing with Lyme. I live in a Lyme endemic area in eastern Ontario and when my pup was diagnosed with Lyme it started me on this journey of herbal medicine and eventually Doc Jones’ School. The best info I found on treating Lyme was from Dr. Bill Rawls and much of his information is based on Stephen Harrod Buhner’s research and treatment of Lyme. Some key herbs they suggest are Japanese Knotweed, Cat’s Claw, Andrographis, Ceanothus and Cryptolepis.
Stephen H Buhner has several podcasts on Spotify on treating Lyme. They are well worth listening to.-

StudentHello!
I lived in Nova Scotia where Lyme disease is everywhere, its getting really bad. I would not mess around with this disease as it can significantly alter your life and sometimes end it. Most times it is treated with Doxycycline for a month internally. The fact they treat you for a month on an antibiotic should tell you something about the severity of the disease and how it can hide etc. This can sit in your system undetected for a long time and it can cause irreversible damage. I don’t want to cause any fear but I highly advise going to get antibiotics immediately. Like Dr. Jones says sometimes modern interventions are needed. Both of my dogs got lyme disease and both got very sick and lost the use of their hind legs but thankfully recovered after a few months but we caught it fairly fast. A friend of ours suffered for a year horribly but after a lot of treatment he hasn’t had anymore symptoms and my friends young son also got it and is still suffering from the effects including severe joint pain. Good luck!

StudentSorry I didn’t see this sooner. Buhner also recommended to take 1000mg of astragalus daily for a month for new tick bites. Since you are pst the first month, I would follow his full herbal protocol.
