StudentHello!
I have a French bulldog that has allergies and I have found a dog food that she seems to be ok on as her skin and mammary area are no longer inflamed and she isn’t scratching anything like she was. She had chronic ear infections which seem to be much better but I did notice in her one ear that it is quite closed up inside and i think she may be more prone to ear infections because of it. I realize we cant use onion juice for dogs but can we use garlic (same family as onion and their is contradicting info on it) or cayenne or something else for them in a tincture or ??? Any info is appreciated, i would like to have this on hand for her. Thank you!

StudentI have a small dog with terrible allergies, but she also has epilepsy, so some of the herbs that help keep her seizures at bay cause a bit of gunk to accumulate in her ears because of allergies. I use a witch hazel bark glycerin tincture in spray bottle and use that to clean her ears twice a day, and when the redness goes away I maintain them with an apple cider vinegar/distilled water mixture (1 part acv/3 parts water) in a spray bottle 1-2 times daily. You can use witch hazel bark or leaf powder to make a tea and use a dropper instead of a bottle. My dog is pretty small, so a sprayer works to get it in all the small crevices of her ear. I used to have to take her to the vet 2-3 times a year because the infections were so bad, but now that I’m doing this, we haven’t needed any ear meds in over a year.

StudentI have had Cocker Spaniels for many years. every one had ear infections then I read about food allergies causing ear infections in Cocker Spaniels. I went through different dog food combinations and found she was allergic to Beef. Since staying away from all beef including treats she has not had a ear infection in 6 years. None of my dogs had other signs of allergies I really wish I had learned about food allergies many years before.
