StudentHi! I couldn’t find if this was discussed–beware, I struggle with brevity…
I’m looking for tips on helping with labor. I’m due with my 4th at Christmas. My first two I had epidurals and one with morphine, very little actual help. My third I delivered at home with a midwife (my cousin) and while it was still awful she actually helped me the entire time to keep things progressing, to keep me nourished, to cope with my seemingly-unavoidable back labor pain, and to have a successful (although still incredibly painful and difficult) labor and delivery.
Since that delivery I have taken magnesium as per Doc’s recommendations and my crippling menstrual cramps have pretty much completely vanished!!!
I’ve been looking for tips to help labor be as smooth as possible.
Last pregnancy I did RRL tea for the last few weeks (gave me cramps before that), nettles throughout, lots of dates at the end, exercises/stretches/kegels/relaxation, anything I knew to do to make labor go better.
This pregnancy I am taking magnesium/calcium, eating lots of fermented foods and beverages, eating true whole grains daily, drinking NORA tea, eating blackstrap molasses as sweetener (seemed to help with dizziness/low BP in the past 2 years)….
I’m hoping the magnesium may give some relief to the back labor pain in the same way it helps with menstrual cramps and back spasms. I’ve heard about evening primrose suppositories…any tips?
ANYTHING ELSE? I’m scared but also motivated to make this a less-awful labor!

StudentHi Kelly,
I’m the mom of four myself and I feel for you! I don’t have anything to add to your regime, but I’m praying for you.

Studenthi forum people. I.ve heard 2 different opinions about drinking raspberry leaf tea during pregnancy through my herbal research. Some sites say to drink it only for the last trimester, while others say you can take it the whole time. what would you recommend?

Studenthi again. When can a person have cramp bark, all throughout pregnancy or just the last trimester?

StudentCramp bark is safe during pregnancy and can be used to help stop pre-term labor. It is a non-hormonal antispasmodic. It doesn’t need to be taken unless you are having cramps though.

StudentHello, I am a new student and know you have delivered by now. I am also a mother of four. I hope you had an uneventful delivery and your midwife was able to facilitate your needs. Congratulations!
