StudentI have a beautiful mimosa tree in my yard (Albizia julibrissin) that I have loved for years. I have been hearing that people use the flowers as medicine, and I wanted to do some research on uses, contraindications, and other’s experiences with that.
My husband sometimes has nightmares in relation to his past military combat, and it affects him long after he wakes. I have heard this flower can be tinctured and used to help people thru a PTSD episode.
Would love to hear more about this from our community.
Thank you,
Robin

StudentI have been very interested in creating a formula to help with PTSD symptoms as I know a number of vets that deal with this. I look forward to what others have to say on this topic!

StudentI want to know more about that, too. I have a friend with a Mimosa tree in her yard, and I think it’s the most beautiful tree I’ve seen in flower. I bet she’d let me harvest flowers!

StudentTopic AuthorShelly,
Please share if you happen to encounter further info on this plant. I’ve decided for now to not use it since there really isn’t enough known about it.

StudentSo I recently ran across an herbalist that is warning people about the mimosa tree. Apparently in 40% of people who make a tea or tincture from the tree get a weird burning or stinging sensation in their mouth and throat that everyone should be aware of. It will go away in about 30 minutes but if you are one of those people who get this reaction you should probably not take this herbal. However, having said that this tree is supposed to be good for stress and does seem to help people. There are some good videos online on how to take it though and you should watch as many as possible before deciding to move forward with it. I think this adverse reaction that some people get can scare them.

StudentTopic AuthorI have done a little more digging, and your comment was spot on about only one person so far mentioning the side effect of the burning throat and mouth (from what I have found). I think I will err on the side of caution and just enjoy the flowers on the tree for now until such time more info/research is available.
Now that I have put this out into the universe, I’m sure more info will find me!
