Help appreciated!!! I’m new to the school.  Re: Puncture wound recommendations. In lesson 5 of “When there is no doc” herbal wound management #2 specific interventions it talks about using a poultice to draw out infection and pus from wound. It says DO NOT close the wound and to leave it open to drain. What if the wound has already closed (learned this info after the fact) and the infection and pus are stuck inside (the size of a golf ball under the wound).  Suggestions on how to help this situation please. Have 2 puncture wounds on left leg right under my knee.  My rooster got me in the leg. It was not flushed out super good when it happened 10 days ago.

Welcome Bernadette!  I’m sorry to hear your having a rough go. I  am no expert however didn’t want to just leave you hanging. I would definitely take an herbal antibiotic if your trying to stick with just herbs. You can’t put comfrey on a puncture wound but, You can use plantain! Plantain is a drawing herb. Remember there is no shame in using pharmaceutical’s or seeing your Primary care physician. if need be. Topically a poultice of Marshmallow, Plantain, Calendula could help. My best advice would be to  Email doc or Call. Do not combine pharmaceuticals with herbs without speaking to your doctor. #208-749-7739 Also look through his wound management. Sorry just noticed the date on this. Hope your much better by now.

          Have a blessed day!

Abscesses that have healed over usually need to be re-opened. As a vet I do this all the time. I certainly can’t recommend that a non-medical person do it on a human. Doctors are good at that sort of thing.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
