StudentHello family! I have been taking Tramadol for about 6 years now for osteoarthritis, and recently was told I have 2 years to walk if I don’t get spinal surgery, plus need a hip replacement. They upped me to Oxy first, which I threw in the toilet, then hydrocodone, which I am not taking either. I am sticking with Tramadol for the moment, but really want to be free of them all. The problem is, the withdrawals are butt whooping, does anyone have advice for calming the insane withdrawals?

StudentCheck out this lesson on the Nervous System
The first thing discussed in the lesson is addiction recovery and gives a few herbs to look at. In addition to those herbs, I would also do Hops topically on the painful areas as it can be very good as a pain reliever.

StudentTopic AuthorThank you I will check it out! I noticed that there are 2 powders that combined have most of the ingredients mentioned, one is Rest Easy, the other is Calm and Collected. Do you think that those 2 are safe together?

StudentYeah I would think so, however if you are concerned, start by taking a lower dose and monitor your body’s reaction to it. Also, herbs and pharmaceuticals can and do interact with each other, so be careful, check out this lesson

Homestead InstructorSlide 14 on that lesson has a couple of formulas that can help with withdrawal issues.
Nervous System II: Issues & Interventions
Greg is right on the money with his topical hops recommendation. You might also look at The Joint Support formula for the inflammation.
I don’t worry much about topical herbs but make sure you talk to your doctor before combining internal herbs with drugs.
Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.

Homestead InstructorI’d also look at the Pain Management lessons. Lots of good info there.
