I have a niece that was born premature (about 7 months along).  Doctor says her lungs won’t be fully mature/healed until about 8 years of age. I was wondering if her breastfeeding mother could take herbs for lung healing to support baby’s lungs. If so, are there any that would not be okay for mom to consume while breastfeeding? Also, which ones would be the most effective?  Mullein and turmeric come to mind, but I know there are plenty more. Thank you!

Mullein and turmeric are both safe during lactation. I really don’t know how much will go through the milk for the purpose of restoring/toning the lungs.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
