Lori Matthews
StudentGreetings,
I have been thinking of signing up for the course for a few months. I am a fairly experienced herbalist with some educational background. I have a business called Bear Woman Herbs but I am taking a break from it to some degree to go through cancer treatment. I love the communication style of Dr. Patrick Jones. I want to learn more about herbal applications for animals. I have five beautiful labrador retrievers who benefit from my knowledge and research, but I desire to learn more. I am a wild food and medicine forager. I raise and harvest several of my own herbs and sell a few commercially. Jewelweed, poke root, bee balm (monarda fistulosa). I have many others and do let my good weeds go to town where they can. I love to can and eat Nettles, lambsquarter, and wild watercress. I am blessed to live in an area that is chemical-free and I can forage tree bark, mushrooms, and many plants.
I look forward to reading the forum questions and learning from my peers. I practice Beaver Medicine – which means building a community for others to thrive.

StudentWelcome Lori. Your connection to the plants, animals, and fungi around sounds beautiful! I may be nearby, depending on where you are in Indiana – I live in southwest Michigan. I wish the best of luck on your cancer treatment and on that whole journey.
