I went through the lesson on making Tinctures, Glycerites, and Vinegars. I was planning to prepare for cold and flu season by foraging for mullein leaf and making my own glycerite. I harvested leaves, popped them in the dehydrator until brittle, then used Doc’s ratio of herbs to glycerin with water.

The mullein nearly filled the pint jar, and the glycerin/water hardly filled 1/4 of the jar. I thought it would be best to cover the herbs, so I added more glycerin/water. The dried herbs have been soaking up the liquid and now they are not covered anymore.

The edges of the mullein pieces are turning black all throughout the jar! Been about 4 weeks in my cabinet.

        Has my glycerite project failed?
