In this presentation, Dr. Patrick Jones discusses principles and techniques for acquiring excellent herbal material and preparing it for use or storage. Learn harvesting principles for herbs growing in your own gardens as well as principles of wildcrafting herbs in the field. Learn when and how to harvest, leaves, flowers, seeds, roots, and bark from various species of amazing medicinal plants. After we discuss acquiring the herbs, we’ll learn about drying and processing herbs in ways that will maximize the potency, effectiveness and shelf life.

Herbal Foraging and Wildcrafting Trip
June 25th | 9am – Noon | Herbal Wildcrafting and Foraging Event
Join Dr. Patrick Jones and the HomeGrown Herbalist staff on a harvesting and wildcrafting adventure. You’ll learn to find and recognize wild medicinal plants in their natural habitats.
Dr. Jones will teach the principles of identifying good locations and specimens from which to harvest. He’ll also show you how to actually safely and ethically harvest leaves, flowers, roots and seeds from various species in the wild. Learning how to use a plant from a book is wonderful. Learning to identify, locate and harvest the plant itself from the wild is a must-have, game-changing experience for any serious student of herbal medicine. Come and be mentored by a Doc Jones (a weed-pulling master!) in this hands on event.
