I tried to search something on this topic but did not find anything.  Forgive me if I’m just inept at this.  I do need help.  I have inherited a 14 year old Australian shepherd from family that doesn’t want to deal with an old guy with issues.  Problem is, he’s had issues a long time that they did not deal with.  He has full body staff or yeast infection that I can’t seem to clear up, as well as hip dysplasia that I know I can’t do a lot about.  I cannot afford the kind of vet bill that it would take to even begin to help him.  He still eats well, he’s trained and very well behaved, and he’s still very alert.  But between the itching and hips, he gets so exhausted.  With the skin/body infections, his skin gets flaky & he has hot spots all over.  It’s hard to pet anywhere except his head.  People have suggested I euthanize him, but he’s been such a part of the family and still has the will to live. i try to keep him shaved but I’m exhausted.  He’s almost a full time job and I’m caretaker for my 93 year old mom, so gosh.  I’m at a loss.   Can anyone offer any suggestions that might help even a little.  If I could get the infection cleared up, even that would help immensely.  Thank you in advance for any suggestions.  I’ve been pondering if I should put him on the liver program.
