From personal experience, you will get best results if you first discover the root cause of the GERD, and what exactly is triggering it before you try to treat it, fix it, or cure it. For me personally, I suffered for more than a decade before I discovered I was gluten intolerant. Two weeks after going gluten free, my GERD disappeared. On the other extreme, some people have a physical abnormality that requires surgery. So as much as I love herbal medicine, sometimes it is necessary to find the root cause first, and sometimes a qualified diagnostician (aka, medical doctor) is necessary to do that. Otherwise, we can end up doing more harm than good.
