The pollen around here has been incredibly thick this year and there are a lot of drippy noses and snorting and sneezing.

One person thinks the extra mucus is causing her to have bad breath. We sat down and discussed whether she had any other of the common reasons for halitosis and maaaaybe she has a little acid reflux, but maybe not. So we’re disregarding that in favor of just drippy crud living in the nasal passages.

So I’m wondering about nasal lavage, like a neti pot only maybe with an herbal punch to get rid of that constant layer of secretions. Maybe a little ear syringe bulb instead of a neti pot technique.

Sure, salty water is good. What about adding plantain for the mucilage and astringency, with a dab of antimicrobial in there too?

Or just plantain infusion, skip the salt?

        OR

Is adding more slime to the slimy area too much?

It would need to be room temp water because we don’t want to heat up the plantain. Hope that won’t be too uncomfortable.

Do the nasal wash at least twice a day till pollen season is over and/or the bad breath issues clear up.

        Am I off base here?

I have been thinking about this same thing.

I would NOT skip the salt.

The temp of the water for a nasal rinse would NOT affect any of the herbs. If it is too hot for herbs it is definitely too hot for the nasal passages.

I don’t know about the plantain or any herb in the rinse. The only think I have thought of was an oregon grape type thing. I then thought that most of the bugs are probably embedded and would require internal consumption to fight them.

I had a sinus infection in my right passage. Both sides were dripping. I took oregon grape internally. Only the side with the infection took on the color of the herb. I was amazed. Infection was gone in 24 hours.

Brigham tea should be a big player in what you describe. We have it available if you do not have access.
