Welcome Carolyn! You can click on the notify button at any time and it will send you an email from that point on

Thank you, Greg, for your warm welcome and reply!  I was able to return and click on the notify button in one of my reply posts when it offered me the “Edit” option.  That was so easy.  All the others just offer me “Reply” and either “Quote” or “Thanks” or both, but no “Edit.”  If I press “Reply,” it wants me to leave an entire message and not simply click on the notify button,
Is that what you are referring to?  (Sorry if I appear to be the densest of your newcomers — hopefully more plant intuitive than tech savvy!)

No problem at all! If you look at the top of the whole post there are some options. For this post, on the left hand it says “› Forums › HomeGrown Herbalist Student Forum › Introductions, Greetings & Chit Chat › Another hi from a New Mexico newbie!”
Now if you look on the right side it says “Favorite | Subscribe to Items:”
If you click on Subscribe to Items, it should send you an email every time someone posts a reply on your post

Fantastic!  This one has the option to unsubscribe since your replies are already coming to my email, but the other topics where I forgot to click notifications ought to be an easy fix now.  Thank you immensely for taking time away from your Thanksgiving weekend to help me!  Finding this school was an answer to prayer, and already you have made me so welcome and more confident as I explore this new adventure.  Have a blessed Christmas season, you and all your loved ones — safe and secure in His love.  Thanks again!

Hi Carolyn! I’m new here too, and also live in a challenging climate. I’m in the Central Valley of CA, and we have no rain from about April-November, and are regularly over 100 degrees for several months. Everything has to be irrigated and most plants struggle in the summer even so. I’m looking forward to learning from the experience of folks like you who also live in hot and dry climates!

Hi Jenny, and thanks so very much for reaching out!  To suddenly find myself not only enrolled in this course but surrounded by friends coming alongside in this journey is a blessing beyond words.  Not only do our plants struggle, but we put in Herculean efforts to counter this inhospitable environment in our attempts to grow and nurture.  It takes so much fortitude to experiment and figure out what works and what doesn’t.  Over the past few years I’ve tried singlehandedly to farm a granite bed but wound up feeding a veritable smorgasbord to the rats, mice, squirrels, and now deer since my border collie is no longer here. But when things actually work, O joy!  O rapture!  O bliss!  I’m all too ready to discover what actually DOES thrive here without so much additional sweat and tears and learn how to let it become that blessing.  This summer I got started on the cactus fruit for the first time, which I just posted about under the topic of Rabbitbrush, Russian Sage, and Prickly Pear. I wonder if there’s a way to notify or tag each other when we post in other places.     (P.S. your smile is gorgeous!)
