(Mods, delete if you don’t want this here).  Here’s an article talking about Bindweed (aka wild morning glory).  It talks about the anti-cancer of the Convolvulus arvensi.  Since it is a major PAIN in almost every garden trying to choke out the rest of the garden – maybe Doc could weigh in on whether it’s a good thing to tincture and use?  I grabbed this article since I dried some last season when it was trying to take over!  Link:

Is anyone familiar with a plant that is very similar to bindweed but has tiny flowers? Haven’t been able to identify it

Lacey, I believe that because you responded here, that you are subscribed.  You can see all of the responses right here as well (this is the 4th comment here for reference).

Bindweed (morning glory) does have some medicinal actions but it has higher toxicity and narrower safety margins than most herbs so I haven’t ever had much interest in it. There are safer plants that do what it does.

I’ve always thought we should contact the Australians and see if we could work together to get rid of the stuff. It seems to me that if we could get the Australians to spray the roots that are coming out of the ground on their side of the planet on the same day we sprayed the tops on our side we might actually be able to kill the stuff.

Oh my goodness – that was so funny!  I say almost that when trying to pull the stinking things up!  What herbs do you like better for the same uses if you don’t mind me asking?  Thanks for the great laugh!

Have a look in the lessons on the issues or the Individual plants lessons. I like all those kids.

Thanks Doc – I was specifically looking at the anti-cancer properties like the link above talks about.

I’m actually in the middle of writing a much-updated cancer lesson on just the plants. Should be up in a week or two. :0)
