Hello, I have been using Warfarin for over 35 years and I was wondering if there are medicinal herbs that could be used instead? I do realize I will need to continue to monitor my INR with a home tester? Thank you!

There are a lot of herbs that have anticoagulant/blood thinning properties. Garlic, red clover, gingko, willow bark, hawthorn….

I wouldn’t use any of them in place of a medication unless it were the apocalypse. Experimenting with herbal alternatives is fine for lots of things but if the first evidence that what we’re experimenting with is the best solution is a stroke, it’s probably not a good case to experiment in.

Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
