In my research books, another name for Arnica is Leopard’s Bane.  I found some Leopard’s Bane at a local nursery, but it is not Arnica montana. It is Doronicum caucasicum.  Does Doronicum caucasicum have the same medicinal properties as Arnica montana?

Common names are slippery things. Arnica montana  and Doronicum caucasicum unrelated species. Both are called leopard’s bane.

Doronicum caucasicum has some history as a medicinal but very little and even less of research on efficacy and safety.  I’d stick with something better known.

Thanks! I’ll stick with Arnica montana medicinally and use Doronicum caucasicum only for its beauty.
