        Hello Doc,

        After reading the Barberry and Oregon Grape monograph, quickview info and watching the videos about these herbs I took the quiz and didn’t fair well. I am confused about two of the questions on the quiz. These were two of the ones I got wrong. Can you please clarify why my answers were incorrect? Apparently I am missing something. Thank you for your time.

        Barberry and Oregon Grape Quiz-

        Question # 1:

        True or False: Barberry and Oregon Grape are medicinally identical plants.

        QUIZ ANSWER: False

        My answer: true

        So I went back to see the Barberry and Oregon Grape monograph PDF page 12 out of 45.

        “Botanists have recently split off a group of plants from Berberis genus to form a new genus called Mahonia. These plants (including Oregon Grape) are medicinally identical to Barberry.”

        Question # 7:

        True or False: Barberry and Oregon Grape can be used interchangeably in any medicinal application.

        QUIZ ANSWER: False

        My answer: True

          Yes, I found the same thing. Got both answers wrong.

          While I understand that Oregon Grape has some slight advantages in thyroid stimulation, in a chronic liver situation, and in Staph infections, they are basically the same plant medicinally for acute cases ( which is how they would be used -not long-term), so I don’t understand why the answers were wrong.

          I didn’t go back to change them, so I’m looking forward to understanding the reason.

              Hi Sharise,

              Yep, I still haven’t heard anything from Doc on this issue. Maybe they were trick questions??

              Sorry guys. That’s an error in the quiz. I’ll have Evan fix it.

              Barberry and Oregon grape are virtually identical medicinally and can be used interchangeably.

              @Evan

              Don't use herbs or combine herbs with medications or use them during lactation or pregnancy without talking with your healthcare provider.
