My question is which herbs are okay to take for pain/inflammation for longer time frame (like several months)? I have a rotator cuff injury with pain/inflammation that may take months to heal. Started taking the joint support formula. Purchased the pain kit. Hops helped some with the pain (internally and topically) No Mo Spasms or rest easy have helped with sleep. Started taking teasel in small dose. White Sage worked the best for pain, but I read in a blog answer from Doc that you don’t want to take it too long due the the antibacterial properties which may kill the good bugs in the intestine. That statement made me question which herbs are better for longer term pain management?

I’m not sure I could give you a total list on what herbs in those formulas are safe for long term usage, but I think the standard of taking a day off each week should still be observed. If you are concerned about a certain herb, take a whole week off before reintroducing it

i sometimes will use a topical compress of caster oil ceyanne pepper. This is wonderful for large for my area pain like knee injury.

wrapped up in caster oil and Cayenne seems to bring great relief for longer periods of time without having to go through digestion.

I would also like to know this information as I have chronic daily back pain due to scoliosis.  Hops topically does a pretty good job most of the time, but I would love to know the others that I can use for years (or perhaps alternate with others on the list for shorter periods of time – like months…?).

Nancy, I have had two shoulder surgeries, and have determined if at all possible, never again.  Got to searching the web for some “shoulder help” and found ShoulderRelief dot com – it’s a very simple method to STRENGTHEN the rotator cuff to either heal an existing issue, OR to prevent one if you happen to be prone to shoulder issues as I seem to be.  It just arrived, so I’ve not started using it yet (as I am going to have a scan done in about 10 days to determine what exactly is going on with my shoulder before I start “fixing it” myself)!  I hope that this might help you or someone else with shoulder problems.
